Let Us Begin
Years ago I started using facebook, and eventually instagram, because it was an easy way to share pictures of the kids and updates about our lives, with family and friends who live far away. But over time, as we all know, these social media platforms have become Extremely political and, well liberal. As a result, I now Hate being on either one. So, because I still want to record and share some information about our lives, I am moving here instead.
We will start with a quick family update, in case you don't know. This past June we moved to the small town of Northfield, Massachusetts (established 1723, a fact that this history major loves). Patrick works as the Director of Development at Thomas Aquinas College, New England Campus. We live one block from campus and we LOVE it. Patrick rides his bike to work. We are able to walk to Mass in ten minutes. The kids walk, or bike to their friends houses (or the little grocery store, Mims, in town to buy candy, or the seasonally-open ice cream store, The Creamy). They are able to play in our neighborhood, around campus, in the gym, or in the woods. All in all, they, and the other 40 tutor and staff kids that they play with, love it here.
My life might sound horrid to some, but this introvert is very happy. I mostly stay home, cook, clean, read, homeschool the kids, knit in front of the fire while listening to audiobooks (amazing, I know) and generally live the high life of a homemaker. But don't worry I am still quite active socially. We have dear, dear friends who live only 0.3 miles from us, and we are meeting some absolutely wonderful people. Everyone here is so very nice. We rang in the new year with friends while we enjoyed a couples poker night where, (other than our friend Marco who Always wins at poker) the big winner of the evening was your's truly. I thank my brother Tim for this as he forced me to play Texas Hold'em with him a few times in high school.
Patrick and I have always wanted to live in a small town, and we are not missing the big city at all. (Other than the people of course, I am thinking primarily of traffic.)
We have lived here for almost eight months (8 months! I cannot believe it!), and we are looking forward to seeing what our future here in Northfield will bring.
